Pumps and Pumping Supplies

Pumps and pumping supplies are tools, not solutions. The right pump depends on what you are trying to accomplish: routine pumping for return-to-work, occasional relief, exclusive pumping, or short-term separation. Fit matters more than brand for most users. A high-end pump with the wrong flange size will underperform a basic pump with the right one. Selection is one of the things we evaluate during your consultation.

We do not stock pumps in our offices.

Traditional pumps

  • Spectra S1 Plus

A rechargeable double-electric pump widely used by IBCLCs. Suitable for routine pumping. Closed-system design protects motor and milk. Battery-powered operation is useful for portability.

  • Spectra Synergy Gold

Spectra’s hybrid model with both wearable cups and traditional flanges. Useful for parents who want the option of cord-free pumping without committing to a fully wearable pump for primary milk removal.

  • Unimom Double Electric Breast Pump

A double-electric pump with closed-system design and multi-user certification. Lower price point than the Spectra S1 with comparable function for most users.

  • Unimom Opera

A double-electric pump with hospital-strength suction at a lower price point than comparable Spectra models. Closed-system design. Suction and cycle speed adjust independently, which is useful for parents working to build or rebuild supply. A practical option when budget is a constraint and Spectra-level performance is needed.

  • Medela Harmony Manual Breast Pump

A two-phase manual pump. Useful for occasional pumping, travel, or as a backup. Not suited for routine high-volume pumping; an electric pump is more efficient for that use case.

  • Boon Trove Silicone Manual Pump

A silicone suction collector worn on the opposite breast during feeding to catch milk that would otherwise drip into a pad. Not a true pump. Useful for catching letdown milk during nursing sessions.

Wearable pumps

Wearable pumps offer convenience for parents who cannot be tethered to a traditional pump during the workday. They generally underperform traditional pumps for milk removal efficiency, so we do not recommend them as the only pump for parents with supply concerns. For routine return-to-work pumping in established supply, they can work well. Fit and flange sizing still matter.

  • Momcozy M6

A widely available wearable pump with a low price point and hands-free double-pump cups. Functional for routine pumping in established supply.

  • Willow Go

Willow’s mid-range wearable. Cups go fully inside the bra with no external tubing. Different fit profile than the Momcozy or Elvie lines.

  • BabyBuddha

Often recommended by IBCLCs for actual milk removal performance in the portable category. Less consumer brand recognition than Elvie or Willow, but clinically respected.

  • Eufy Wearable Breast Pump S1 Pro

Eufy’s heated wearable pump with HeatFlow technology, which warms the cup to support milk flow and reduce clogging. App-controlled rhythm and intensity. Hospital-grade suction. The heating feature is the differentiating element for parents prone to clogged ducts or slow letdown.

  • Eufy Wearable Breast Pump S2 Pro

Eufy’s updated wearable model with hospital-grade suction, dual pumping modes, and a portable charging case. Comparable form factor to the S1 Pro without the heating feature, at a different price point.

Pumping accessories

  • BeauGen Breast Pump Cushion

A silicone cushion that sits inside a hard flange to reduce friction and improve fit. Useful when a standard flange causes discomfort but a different size is not the answer.

  • haakaa Manual Pump Collector with Ladybug Catcher Combo

A silicone suction collector and a small milk catcher worn in the bra. Useful for capturing letdown milk and small volumes. Not a substitute for a pump for routine milk removal.

  • Lactation Hub 3-in-1 Healing Pumping Spray

A topical spray applied before pumping. Used for comfort with sore nipples and to support flow.

  • Kindred Bravely Sublime Pumping & Nursing Bra

A bra designed to hold pump flanges hands-free while also functioning as a daily nursing bra. Practical for working parents who want to avoid changing into a separate pumping bra during the day.

  • Simple Wishes Hands-Free Pumping Bra

A dedicated pumping bra worn over a regular bra. Adjustable to accommodate growing or changing chest size. The original hands-free pumping garment, still widely used.

  • Medela Quick Clean Breast Pump Wipes

Single-use cleaning wipes for pump parts when sink access is not practical. Useful for working parents pumping at the office, during travel, or between sessions. Not a substitute for routine washing with soap and water at home.

  • Medela Quick Clean Microwave Steam Bags

Microwavable bags that sterilize pump parts in a few minutes. Useful for parents who want a quick sanitizing option beyond routine washing. Each bag can be reused multiple times before discarding.

  • Boon Grass Countertop Drying Rack

A countertop drying rack designed for bottle and pump parts. The grass-blade shape holds small parts upright for airflow. A standard kitchen tool but listed because parents ask which drying rack works for pump valves and small parts.

Milk storage and transport

  • Lactation Hub Temperature Sensing Breastmilk Storage Bags

Pre-sterilized, double-zipper storage bags for freezing pumped milk. Changes color when thawing milk to ensure appropriate temperature for feeding your baby.

  • Kiinde Twist Pouches

Direct-pump-to-storage pouches that thread onto Kiinde’s bottle system. Reduces milk transfer steps from pump to storage to feeding. Useful for parents who want a unified storage and feeding system.

  • Nuliie Reusable Silicone Milk Storage Bags

Reusable silicone storage bags. Reduce waste compared to single-use bags. Standard freezer-safe; thicker than disposable bags.

  • Sarah Wells Insulated Pumping Bag

An insulated bag designed for transporting pumped milk and pump parts. Holds ice packs and several bottles. Used by working parents who pump at the office.

  • Idaho Jones Pumping Bag

An alternative insulated pumping bag with different aesthetic and organization. Comparable function to the Sarah Wells line.

Flanges, inserts, and replacement parts

Flange and insert fit is one of the most common pumping problems we see. A flange that is too large reduces output and causes pain. A flange too small causes nipple compression. Sizing is something we evaluate during your visit. The products below are common sizing options.

  • Maymom Classic Series Flange replacements – Select appropriate size

The classic series flange is the standard size/shape flange that has been used for many years. Available in sizes from 10 mm – 36 mm.

  • Maymom Crater Series flange replacements – Select appropriate size

This shape is best for bowl-shaped breasts. Can create less pressure and pain and create a better seal for some parents. Available in sizes from 10 mm – 24 mm

  • Maymom Saucer Series flange replacements – Select appropriate size

This shape is a much wider angle. Can be helpful for those parents with very soft breast tissue, and a wide variety of breast shapes. Available in 13 mm – 15 mm.

  • Maymom Comfy Series flange replacements – Select appropriate size

This shape is the same as the classic series, but has a silicone edge which some parents find more comfortable.

  • Maymom Pano Series flange replacments – Select appropriate size

This shape is slightly wider than the classic series and can be helpful for larger breasts.

  • Nuliie 10-Piece Flange Inserts

A multi-size insert set that fits inside flanges from common wearable pumps. Useful for trial sizing when the right size is not yet known.
