Frequently Asked Questions

Does insurance cover a lactation consultant in Magnolia?

Most health plans cover lactation support under the Affordable Care Act. We bill United Healthcare (all UHC plans), Aetna, Cigna (via Wildflower), Curative, and Sana Benefits, and also accept BCBS Texas, Multiplan, and Tricare. We verify your specific benefits — often the same day if you submit before 3 PM on a weekday.

Do you offer home visits in Magnolia and The Woodlands?

Yes. Our IBCLCs travel to homes across Magnolia, The Woodlands, Tomball, Spring, Conroe, and surrounding areas. Home visits have a travel fee and are subject to limited availability — contact us for details.

Do you accept Cigna insurance?

Yes. We bill Cigna through Wildflower, our billing partner. If your Cigna benefits mention Wildflower as an in-network lactation provider, you’re in the right place.

How soon can I be seen?

Fast. We offer same-day benefits verification when you submit your intake before 3 PM on a weekday, and most families are scheduled within 3–5 business days. If you need urgent support — severe pain, latching crisis, or feeding worries in the first week postpartum — we offer virtual triage visits that can often be scheduled within 24–72 hours.

What’s the difference between an IBCLC and a CLC?

An IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) is the highest credential in lactation care — requiring health sciences education, 300–1,000 supervised clinical hours, and a board exam. All of our Magnolia lactation consultants are IBCLCs.

Do you do tongue tie evaluations in Magnolia?

Yes. We provide full tongue, lip, and buccal tie assessments. If release is indicated, we coordinate with trusted pediatric dentists and ENTs in The Woodlands and north Houston area for the procedure, then support you with post-release feeding care. Our on-site Licensed Massage Therapist, Tessa Guillory, also provides infant bodywork before and after release — a service most lactation practices refer out.

What is infant bodywork, and is it covered by insurance?

Infant bodywork is therapeutic massage performed by a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) to address tension patterns, torticollis, and restricted movement that can affect feeding. Tessa Guillory, IBCLC and LMT, offers this at our Magnolia office. Bodywork is self-pay — it’s not billed through insurance — with payment due at the time of service. You can schedule bodywork alongside a lactation visit for a streamlined appointment.

Can I see a lactation consultant before my baby is born?

Yes. Prenatal lactation consults and our online prenatal breastfeeding class give you the knowledge and plan to start strong. Prenatal visits are often covered by insurance.
