Melissa Carrera was a wonderful support system during my breastfeeding journey. My initial goal was 100% breastfeeding; however, my baby had lost over 10% of his weight by his first pediatrician appointment so we immediately started supplementing with formula and pumped milk. I was initially sad and felt guilty that breastfeeding was not working but Melissa reassured me that breastfeeding did not have to be an all or nothing process. I faced several setbacks such as thrush, mastitis, several clogged ducts and Melissa provided me with the tools and emotional support to get through all of those issues when I felt like wanting to quit several times. She answered my messages at odd hours in the night and on weekends. Her presence is extremely calming, nurturing, and supportive. My baby is now 4 months old and I am on a sustainable pumping schedule with the occasional formula supplementation and I could not have done it without Melissa’s support!

I thought all hope was lost. I wanted to give up so many times. My goal was 1 year. Then I said maybe 3 months. Maybe 6 months. Maybe 9 months. BUT HERE I AM. 1 year later. I have brandy to thank for that. Her knowledge, her patience, her ability to give me a CHOICE. to give me the freedom to make an Informed consent. To be able show me and help me. She was there whenever I needed her. She was kind and patient and believed in me when I didn’t believe in me. I have seen Nicole K. twice and during both appointments, she was extremely patient, did weighted feeds, provided tips, and made breastfeeding much easier for me and my little one. She was very thorough and went through my pump/flange size with me as well. She was happy to answer all my questions and did not make me feel rushed at all. I would highly recommend her!
I’ve had 2 consults now with Tessa at the Jones Rd location, and baby has made so much progress with his latching. I’m not sure where our breastfeeding journey will end up, but I do know I wouldn’t have made it this far without Tessa. I’ve never felt more heard, understood, and supported. Thank you Tessa and Bayou City Breast Feeding for all that you do to help Mamas struggling to breastfeed.

I met with Claire after having issues with aggressive letdown and oversupply that was causing painful feedings for baby and I. She helped with the letdown and supply, while also teaching me more comfortable positions and aids to help with better feedings all around. I’m incredibly thankful to have found Claire and Bayou City Breastfeeding and will continue our feeding journey with them happily!

Karen is AMAZING. Seriously, she has been so incredibly helpful in educating me on breastfeeding as a first time mom! Call them if you need someone to do in home visit with you or an office to go to. I did both and it was great. Highly recommend!
I’ve delivered my first baby 3 weeks earlier and she stayed in NICU for few days which makes it difficult to breastfeed her. Later I kept struggling to make her latch and when she did latch I’ve never been able to keep her latched. Also, I was having difficulties with positioning. I seek Bayou City Breastfeeding for help and the amazing LC Kyna got assigned to me. Kyna first taught me how to set and hold the baby for the breastfeeding, and she taught me some mouth and cheeks exercises to train the baby how to latch. In few seconds my baby was able to latch and she refused to let it go 😊 …. Kyna showed me how to use the breast bump correctly and how to choose the right size that will be comfortable and not painful. She also shared some useful resources that will help with the journey of breast feeding. I was very happy after our first session with Kyna. We met again for several follow up sessions and each time she taught me something new. My baby now is 3 months and she cried for the breastfeeding than the bottle feeding. Each time I breastfeed her I wish i can call Kyna to say thank you. Words are not enough Kyna ❤️
Response from the owner:Hi Haifa! Karen was super helpful in giving me tips on how to become better at breastfeeding and bottle feeding my newborn. Our appointment was very thorough, I didn’t feel rushed and I had more than enough opportunity to ask all the questions I needed in order to feel comfortable conquering breastfeeding as a first time mom! I would highly recommend!
Response from the owner:Thank you for the kind review! We are so pleased that we were a part of your support team!
I’m so grateful for Bayou City Breastfeeding and the many options they allow for visits! This was our first child, and I wanted to feel best positioned to support a breastfeeding journey. I had a prenatal appointment, which helped me feel more calm for the first days postpartum. My IBCLC followed up in the weeks before my due date to make sure any lingering questions or concerns were addressed, and they were readily available for a home visit a few days after we were discharged home. They’ve always been good about making sure they stay within what’s covered by my insurance, which is always greatly appreciated. So grateful to have this group as a resource, and would highly recommend!
Response from the owner:Thank you, Danni, for your heartfelt review. We’re thrilled to have been a part of your breastfeeding journey with your first child. It’s wonderful to hear that our prenatal appointment and follow-up care provided the support and reassurance you needed. We’re committed to being available and working within insurance coverage to help as many families as possible. Your recommendation means the world to us, and we’re so grateful to be your trusted resource. Warmest wishes to you and your family! 🌟
